TB-HIV Technical Area, TB Control Program

TB-HIV Technical Area is a component of GFATM (Global Fund for fighting AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria) which is being implemented by HASAB since 01 August 2011 under the management of the Principal Recipient (PR) of the fund, BRAC. This is a new initiative in Bangladesh to integrate Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS in order to have a synergistic effect of the components for greater impact.

Target Population :
People with High Risk Behavior like Injecting Drug Users (IDUs), Sex Workers and their clients, Men having sex with men and Transgender.

Project Period:
From Jul 2011 to Jun 2015

Objectives:
To establish the mechanism for collaboration between Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS programmes. To decrease the burden of TB among people Living with HIV (PLHIV) and also to decrease the burden of HIV in TB patients.

Working Area:
Dhaka Division

Major Activities:
Testing for TB through laboratory, referral, orientation & awareness on TB & HIV, cultural events, social support to poor suspects for further investigation.
